Random Evenings

As I missed almost a whole month there are so many little things I could write about. But pictures are often better descriptors than what I write.

Reading mommy's kindle
Levi has greatly enjoyed reading my kindle while lounging in Wyatt's cars chair. Levi can get in and out of this chair on his own. Of course Wyatt isn't too keen on sharing this chair... maybe a possible Christmas present?

The boys turned couch potatoes
The downside to late fall is the weather. We had many days (including our week long rain from hurricane Sandy) where we were stuck in doors all day. Let me just say there are only so many things this mommy can come up in a month. Plus even mommies need the time to just sit in front of the tv... I know, not an all the time thing.

My cutie
And of course my little camera ham. I don't know if it's because I've been working more on taking good photos and therefore have my camera out a ton, or what, but both of my boys are starting to understand smiling for the camera.

Reading Time

I was just talking with my mom the other day about how hard it is to parent, in that there are so many things I am supposed to teach my kids - the list is too long to put here, really. But I can be glad that somehow between my love for books and the generous gifts of so many my kids have learned to love books and reading.

Boo at the Zoo

Our Halloween included a trip to boo at the zoo again this year.

We were not able to make it last year, partly because of Levi only being a month old, and because the day we went the amount of people there was insane...

Checking out Tigger
So this was Levi's first Boo at the Zoo. And for the most part he spent it in the stroller just watching all the other kids get their treats. Luckily he was fine with that (now he would want to walk and be part of it, but in mid-October he was fine with riding the stroller).

Spiderman!

I wasn't surprised when he had to practically force Wyatt to wear his Spiderman costume (mind you he picked this costume out on his own, I wanted him to be doctor...). So we he decided he had to put the mask on while were there I was shocked!  I guess peer pressure is a powerful tool even at three and a half! (It seems that spiderman is a popular costume)

All about the treats

Wyatt did great going up to each station to get his treat. He enjoyed handing his card over to be marked before he got a nice treat. He still talks about going to the zoo and having his card checked.

Baby snow leopards

These are the "baby" snow leopards - I felt like we just saw them (when we met Pilot) and they were small, and now they are big (well currently they are much bigger...).

Trying to get lost

We figured Levi needed to get out and stretch his legs for a little bit. But he was too distracted by all the other people to actually walk with us. So his freedom was short lived.

Loving the whole thing

Levi did a great job sporting Wyatt's old Thomas the Train costume... it was great because it fit on top of his regular clothes so I didn't have to worry about him being too cold in the cool October weather. Granted we didn't have a crazy cold October, still this particular day was breezy and cool. In fact it rained about ten minutes after we got into the car to go home.

Pooh the vampire with my Spiderman, Thomas and Patrick

I tried for a family shot, but seriously there was no way to get all three of these boys to look at the camera!

Taking a break

Near the end Wyatt had to take a break at the pumpkin "graveyard". He didn't even care that the lions were chasing each other around their enclosure - I mean they were having a grand time, talking back and forth and everything. The whole thing was very impressive, and scary. I was very glad the enclosure was secure!

Overall we had a great time at Boo at the Zoo, and next year I will have two little treaters!

Preparing for holidays

Yes I know this should be a Christmas-y post, but it's not. The month of November (and end of October for that matter) have been crazy busy for me. I don't know why exactly... maybe it's less naps from my favorites little guys, but still...

So for the next few days I'll be playing catch up, mostly because I like to look back every year and see what we did, not because I want to pull you all back into Halloween now that we are thinking about Christmas...

So this year, we decided to try some pumpkin crafts, mostly inspired by pintrest, but also because I was not in the mood to deal with mess that comes with carving pumpkins!

Focused on painting
So we painted one of our pumpkins. Wyatt was all about it. He just kept covering it with more and more paint. We started with red and brown, but the end result was a strange muddy color. That's fine, we had a great time creating it, so who cares what the color actually was. Besides we covered the whole thing with a ton of red glitter in the end!

Making sure the stem is painted also
We covered two pumpkins with glue and glitter, which seriously, what kid doesn't like to use glitter? I haven't met one yet.

And then because I wanted to give it try, I melted some broken pieces of crayon on another mini pumpkin. It was difficult thing to do with a one year around (yes he was holding on to my legs as I melted those pieces of wax- and that is why there are no pictures of the process.). But over all I liked the outcome, and we ended up with a super cute centerpiece that has lasted through Thanksgiving!
